The Good Ones
If you woke up this morning with the good fortune of having someone to celebrate, celebrate them. We go about our days doing our best to cater to the ego of the boss, the pretensions of a 'friend', the snipes of the family in law, that father or mother in law with their dark undertones while bearing a smile. But for today, forget them.
For today, celebrate the mother or father parking their ambitions to raise you. The mother and father who endured sleepless nights worrying about your peaking fever; your adjustments as you started school; your future. The friends who parked their egos and celebrated your wins-those who want to see you move forward even though they might struggle. The one friend who you constantly bore with your rationalisations about work, love, and your latest hobby; and keep listening and coming back. Celebrate the boss who guides without expectation.
Celebrate the authentic souls who made the good part in you shine.
For today celebrate them-the good ones. The rare ones. The true ones.
For the rest. Forget them.
